Brain injury Support Group

NEW BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUP NOVEMBER 2018 Support groups are opportunities for both survivors of brain injury and their family members to discuss the difficulties and hardships they are facing, as well as the accomplishments and joys in their life. Survivors, families, and friends can feel isolated, lonely, and overwhelmed after a life altering event. Staying connected with your friends and family, creating a new community, or joining a support group can help prevent isolation and loneliness. The Brain Injury Support Group is created to allow survivors of brain injury and their family members to meet others who are in similar situations, gain valuable emotional support from one another, form friendships, and obtain information and resources. We are extremely fortunate in the City of Sunrise to have the opportunity to develop a new support group. It is a place where members can: •Find out more about life with a (after?) Brain Injury •Share their own experiences both difficult and successful •Learn from other members’ achievements and strategies •Find out about the newest trends and information related to Brain Injury •Feel supported by peers who have gone through similar situations •Be safe, knowing that everyone in the group supports each other and that what is shared remains in the group •Develop relationships with other people who have had similar experiences •Socialize and develop friendships •Get involved with the community HealthSouth/Encompass’ Brain Injury support group will host social events, bring in guest speakers, and are often led by individuals with a vast knowledge of brain injury.
